Plan a Garden Furniture Range for Retail, Wholesale and Import

If next season needs garden furniture, start with where it will sell and how it will ship. Appearance comes after that. A supplier conversation is useful when you can say those things out loud.

Where will this range live?

An online store needs details, images, packing and manuals that match the listing. A wholesaler needs a mix that its retail accounts can actually use. An importer needs carton sizes, product groups and timing that can sit in one order. Those are different briefs. Say which one you are.

Share destination market, channel, season, who the customer is, and the pieces you are considering. That is enough to stop comparing products only by how they look in a photo.

What job does each item do?

A shortlist is not “everything that looks outdoor.” Seating, folding tables, swings and loungers play different roles. The combination depends on your channel, the space you have to display or store, and the order you can actually place.

  • Core: what you expect to introduce or repeat first.
  • Complementary: what makes the outdoor selection feel coherent.
  • Bulky: what needs an early carton and handling conversation.
  • Test: what you want to review before you decide it belongs in your market.

What do you need confirmed for each shortlisted item?

A category page does not answer operational questions. Versions, packing and commercial terms differ. Ask for the current specification, carton size, packing method, order conditions, labels or manuals, and the checks that can be agreed for that order.

If you are comparing suppliers, send the same brief to each: reference image or link, expected quantity, market, timing, packing or retail requirements. You will see quickly who is engaging with the work.

Can these pieces share a shipment?

Several furniture items may look right for one programme. Whether they can be combined is confirmed against selected products, MOQ, carton dimensions, CBM, packing and season. Treat mixed-container talk as order planning, not as a promise that any two items can travel together.

When you send a list, mark the pieces that the launch cannot live without. That lets the supplier see the constraints before you build a price around an assumption.

What does “retail ready” mean for this order?

The product is only one part of what your customer experiences. Ask early about packing, carton marks, labels, manuals, product information, and the inspection or loading information that can be discussed. Requirements depend on the product and the destination. Confirm them before production or shipment is arranged.

A brief you can paste into an email

  1. Target market and sales channel.
  2. Product links, reference images, or the categories you want to review.
  3. Expected quantity and the timing you are working toward.
  4. Packing, label, manual or carton-mark requirements.
  5. Any inspection, shipment or product-data questions that affect the decision.
