The Subtle Value—The Mystery of Hang Tags
In October this year, we successfully developed a new client from Europe. Back in March, we visited this client in person when they were sourcing products for their Spring 2025 collection. After several rounds of communication, they placed an order for two containers of folding chairs and tables.
During our visit, we sensed the client’s strong professionalism and high regard for branding, especially in terms of packaging and design. They had extremely stringent requirements for details, so in the early stages of our communication, we paid particular attention to being thorough and precise. For example, the folding chairs originally came with a non-woven tote bag. To prevent the bags from getting dirty during sales, we proactively suggested adding an additional OPP bag. Not only did the client agree, but they also requested a knot to be tied at the closure to ensure the product wouldn’t fall out during transport. These detailed measures helped us avoid potential issues down the line.
However, some unexpected challenges arose during the production of the order. Each product required a custom hang tag designed specifically for the client. Since the client’s hang tag was relatively large (16×10 cm), it was prone to damage during transport. The choice of the hang string became crucial. Standard hang strings have a simple design at the head, but the client actually preferred a “twinlock” design to ensure the hang tag would not wear out during shipping. Unfortunately, as the client had not clearly specified this preference in advance, we proceeded with production using the standard hang string for all the goods.

When we received the client’s feedback via email, I could sense their concern and unease. Regrettably, I informed the client that we had not used the “twinlock” hang strings. However, we had taken additional steps to address the issue—placing each hang tag in a protective plastic sleeve to keep it in place and prevent wear during transport. I also assured the client that for future orders, we would use their preferred hang string design while continuing to include the protective plastic sleeve as an added precaution. Upon hearing these solutions, the client was very pleased and expressed appreciation for our attention to detail.
This collaboration underscored the importance of maintaining efficient communication and focusing on details when working with clients. The trust our clients place in us stems from our commitment to solving problems and consistently delivering services that exceed expectations. We look forward to deepening our partnership with this client in the future.
